Aftercare

• Cast Fixation
  The limb is protected by cast fixation for 6-8 weeks. After cast removal, protected ambulation is prescribed for a further 12 weeks.
• Follow-up Radiographs
  Unless complications arise, followup films are taken at 20 weeks postoperatively.
• Plate Removal
  Plate removal is carried out on or about 6 months postoperatively in these relatively young individuals destined to become athletes.
